Educational Wing Addition: 1992-1998

With two morning worship services and over 300 people regularly attending Sunday school by 1992, Ironbridge began planning the second phase of its building program. A commissioning service was held for the Phase II Building Committee, and the Capital Stewardship Committee began investigating means of financing the construction. During this time of rapid growth the congregation had to consider some unique ways of providing space for Sunday school classes. On October 3, 1993, Sunday school classes began meeting off-site at Carver Middle School, three miles south of the church. Ironbridge purchased a bus to shuttle people between the church and the school.

In January 1994, the congregation hired Cargill Associates, a professional fund-raising firm, to offer guidance and advice about how to raise funds to start the education building. The church adopted the theme, "Building in Faith, Growing in Love." It committed a concentrated time in prayer with home fellowships and a 24-hour prayer vigil. Many people were enlisted to join in the work of launching the building campaign. On April 24, 1994, a commitment celebration worship service and luncheon were held with an attendance of 393. It was a time in which the membership renewed the vision of the founding group. By the end of the year, $516,897 was pledged to the building fund and $159,343 was given.

On August 28, 1994, Ironbridge held a groundbreaking ceremony for the education building. In the ensuing months, the congregation rejoiced to see a foundation laid where there had been trees and water. The goal was to move into the facility by the tenth anniversary of the church in October 1995.

Rev. Paul Cochran Music had always been a very important avenue in reaching the community for Christ. By unanimous vote, the church called their first Minister of Music, Paul F. Cochran, who began serving March 9, 1998. Paul and his wife, Sarah, added strength and structure to the already strong music program. The church membership by this time was 850.
