Claiming our Canaan 1999-2002
By November 1999, Ironbridge stood at a strategic crossroads. The Lord had given
them a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to claim their destiny and to reach their full
potential as a "great Commission" church. Next to the church was a 19-acre parcel of
land that was for sale. With attendance now over 500+ per Sunday, they needed more space
if they were going to continue to reach people for Christ.
While praying and asking God for a miracle, a committee formed to meet with the owners
who graciously allowed the church until January 1, 2001 to come up with their purchase
price of $1.8 million. Thus, the "Claiming Our Canaan" campaign began. The congregation fully trusted God for additional buildings to expand the facilities.
With faithfulness, prayer, study of God's Word, and the strength that only God could
provide...all things are possible!
God continued to add to the church and by years-end of 2000, the membership had reached 950.
IBC's Claiming Our Canaan campaign was proof "...with God all things are possible" (Matthew 19:26). Ironbridge held their victory celebration Sunday May 6, 2002, on the 19 acres God had given them, praising God and giving Him the glory for delivering the land on which to build and grow His Kingdom.
Jesus said "Let the little children come unto me and do not hinder them for the Kingdom belongs to such as these." And come they did. Ironbridge opened its doors to its first preschool in September 2001.
God continued to add to the church and by September 30, 2001, the membership had reached 974.
