IBC AWANA Leadership
Promoting Unity and Structural Organization
Directors
Directors should build vital relationships with their leaders/helpers/listeners. Seek to maintain a two-way line of communication (meetings, phone calls, e-mail or note card). Request that your L/H/L contact you if they are going to be late or absent. Directors should check-in with the Commander and report leadership shortages.
Plan and Manage Your Help
Experience has proven that if an L/H/L is not given clear direction of their assignments they will not feel needed, be discouraged and will not come back. Directors should assign 4-5 clubbers per leader and assign adequate helpers/listeners to a clubroom. AWANA club claims this is critical to the organizational infrastructure.
Club Night Responsibilities
A Director and or Leader of each club should be in their clubroom to receive clubbers who begin to arrive at 6:00pm. Check-in leaders should be on site and set up to receive clubbers at 6:00pm.
Directors are responsible for the condition of the rooms at the end of the club night. Make sure rooms are returned as found. Tables and chairs should be wiped as needed after snacks or crafts. Cleaning supplies are available in the AWANA closet. Vacuum cleaners are located upstairs and downstairs for your use. Make sure all classroom lights are turned off at the end of the evening.
Areas of Responsibility - Facility
The Cubbies Director is responsible their clubroom by leaving the room the way they found it and turning off the lights. Also turn off the lights in the ladies/men's restrooms on first floor. (those near the commons)

The Awana Commander will open the church commons at 5:45pm and will close the church commons at 8:10pm. Directors are to notify the commander that a clubbers parent or guardian has not arrived. If this becomes a habit the Director will make a personal contact with the parent. The Commander will stay until all children are picked up. The Commander is responsible for turning off lights in the sanctuary/kitchen/music room/library areas.
Awana Supply Closet
The supply closet will be opened at the beginning of club and a Director is responsible for closing at the end of club. The club goal of maintaining & allocating Awana supplies is to have by the end of the calendar year to have little to no inventory. As a Director you should present yourself a good steward of His blessings. Keeping a running inventory of your club will be an asset to our goal.
Ordering Awana Supplies and Uniforms
The Director of each club will place orders. Orders must be written on official AWANA order forms. Orders should be filled out and given to the Awana secretary. Due to expensive shipping costs, orders will placed on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month. (plan ahead to avoid delays) Do not promise clubbers one-week delivery on any item. Payment for uniforms and handbooks will be handled at the desk. Uniforms and handbooks will not be issued until payments are received.
Remember, checks are to be made payable to Ironbridge Baptist Church or IBC (Memo: AWANA Clubs)
