How to Make Awana Fun for Everyone

Anytime a group of people gets together, there must be rules if anything is to be accomplished. We believe most people, including clubbers, really want and enjoy good discipline. In our Awana program we stress discipline and respect to help our Awana Clubs run smoothly, ALL clubbers are expected to:

"Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you." (Ephesians 4:32)

  • Bring your handbook - wear your uniform!
  • The uniform must be worn in order to receive an award. Uniforms contribute to the unity and discipline of the club and are an encouragement to further achievement.
  • Run, shout, and cheer at Game Time, Walk and use low voices in hallways - adults and other clubbers are using the rooms nearby.
  • No name-calling. Use titles for all adults and leaders, like: Pastor, Mrs., or Mr.
  • Come and have fun! Leave your bad attitudes somewhere else. Be a good sport and cheer for your team.
  • Care and respect should be shown for church property at all times. NO CHEWING GUM please - it ruins our carpets!
  • Forgive others who may do wrong to you. Do not try to get even. If there is a problem, talk to your Awana Leader or Director.
  • No clubber is to ever leave the church property during club time unless a director gives permission.

Awana 3-Count Discipline Procedure

Children will be rewarded for their achievements and good behavior. If there is a child with disruptive behavior, we will follow the Awana 3-count discipline procedure. The leader in charge gives the misbehaving clubber a "one" count. "One" is a warning. On the second offense in an evening, the clubber is given a "two" and taken to the club director for counseling, If the clubber is given a "three" for misbehaving, he or she is taken to the Commander. The parents will be called and the child will go home. If this does occur, a parent/guardian must accompany the clubber during the following week.

Awana 5-Count Discipline Procedure

We also use a 5-count system when it is necessary to quiet the entire group of clubbers. There should be no talking or moving around after the "5-count" is given by a leader. We believe that if each clubber follows these rules, everyone will enjoy Awana.

Distribution of Awana Shares

The Awana shares increases enthusiasm and motivates clubbers in their achievements. Clubbers exchange their earned Awana Shares for prizes.
