How you can have a relationship with God

You’ve found your way to this page, and you’re looking at these words for only one reason—God wants you to know just how much He loves you.

You are loved by God and He wants to make sure that you know it.  He had a great big grin on His face the day you were born.  He knows you better than you know yourself and He looks right at you and He says, “Yes!  You’re the one I want!”  God desperately wants to enjoy a personal relationship with you!

Sound unbelievable?  Every person who has ever lived has turned their back on God’s love.  God calls our rejection—“sin.”  It’s not a very trendy word, and it’s not a very pretty picture.  Sin describes the fact that we’ve all flunked the test, and we’ve all gone way off course.  There’s one word that describes our spiritual situation—Guilty!

There’s one word that describes God—“Holy!”  The word ‘holy’ means 100% pure and 100% good.  So we’ve got a real problem.  We are guilty and God is completely pure.  There’s a barrier between us and God.  The wall that separates us from knowing God is our sin.  So what did sinful people do to try and fix the problem themselves?  They invented religion.  Religion is all the different ways that people try to clean up their act and scrub off the guilt of their sin by doing religious stuff to impress God.  Unfortunately, religion doesn’t work at all, it only makes things worse.

God isn’t interested in religion.  He knows it doesn’t help.  God decided to intervene on our behalf.  Because He loves us so much, God decided to rescue us so we could have a relationship with Him.  That’s right—the God who created the universe wants to have a relationship with you!  You can’t see Jesus but you can trust Him and get to know Him.  You don’t see Him but you can have a relationship with Him that is more intimate and satisfying than any other.  Jesus is on bended knee, waiting for you to say “Yes!” to Him.  He wants to have a living relationship, a personal friendship with you that will last forever.  You don’t have to do anything to earn His love because Jesus has already done it for you!  Jesus suffered and died on the cross—in your place.  He took the punishment for your sin.  He scrubbed away your guilt and He remembers your sin no more.  If you accept what He’s done for you—then there’s nothing standing between you and God!  You can have forgiveness and know that God accepts you.

If you’re really seeking the truth, you’ll know that God is talking to you right now.  You’ll know He’s alive too.  These are just a few simple words on a page, but God will keep on speaking truth into your life long after you’ve finished reading this article.  I hope you get these thoughts stuck in your head.  It’s God’s way of getting your attention.

God is talking to you for one important reason—so that you’ll know that you’re loved by God.  Here’s how you can begin to love God back.  Just talk to Him.  Prayer is simply a conversation with God.

Here’s a great way to start the conversation: “Jesus, thank you for loving me.  I believe that You died on the cross in my place to make a way for me to know You and love You forever.  Take away the guilt that sin has left in my life.  I believe that You’re alive, and I trust You to change me.  Teach me to hear Your voice and follow Your way.  I pray this in Your name Jesus, Amen.”

Saying “Yes!” to Him, saying “Yes!” to God, is the greatest thing that anyone can ever do.  When you say “yes” to him, you can experience a fresh start in life.  You can begin again.  You can experience the joy of knowing God personally.

Welcome to God’s forever family.
