IBC Nursery and Preschool Sunday School
If you are a visitor, please visit our Preschool Welcome Desk to fill out a registration Form and obtain a Security Tag. We will assist you in locating the appropriate classroom.
- We have two Sunday school hours, 9:00am and 10:45am.
- Please drop your children at the door, this gives us added security and less chaos.
- When checking into a room, you will need to label your child with the given label or tag the second half of the security tag stays with you until you claim your child.
- You MUST have your Security Tag to pick up your child. We wish to ensure that your child is safely in your company.
- If you lose your Security Tag, please see the Coordinateor at the Preschool Welcome Desk at the North Hall. We apologize for any inconvenience, however for the safety and security of ALL our children this policy will be strictly enforced.
- Nursery Classes--Complete the Sign In/Care Sheet including any special instructions and your location.
- A pager can be assigned for your child's stay so you may be paged if necessary. Pagers are located in the Nursery.
- Parents are asked to please be prompt in picking up their children as a courtesy to the teacher as well as a comfort to the children.
- It is suggested that only one parent call for their child to reduce traffic. Infants and Toddlers will not be released to older siblings. Preschoolers can only be released to siblings 12 and older who are listed on the preschooler's information card.
- Children may cry when parents leave, it is natural for a child to prefer their parent. Every attempt will be made to console and comfort the child while the parents are absent. Parents will be paged or contacted if we are unable to comfort him/her in a resonable amount of time.
- A coordinator at the Preschool Welcome Desk or another volunteer will be glad to check in on your child to avoid you being spotted and unnecessarily upsetting them.

- One or two filled bottles as needed
- Extra diapers (disposable are preferred

- Pacifier (clip-on type or labeled)
- Wipes
- Only one "security item" (i.e., blanket, doll, rattle) if necessary. Avoid other personal toys.

Potty Training
Children undergoing potty training should have with them a change of clothing in a labeled bag. Please let the volunteer know you are potty training your child. We request that chilfdren in the process of potty training enter the facilities wearing pull-ups. After at least 2 weeks without an accident you may send your child in regular underwear. Children tend to forget about going to the bathroom and when they remember it is urgent, so we ask that you help us keep your child from having an accident by not dressing him/her in belts, overalls, or other difficult clothing.
Feeding/Food
- If your child has a food allergy or a special need relating to food, please notify the volunteer EVERY TIME you drop them off!
- Under normal circumstances, the nursery volunteers will not feed babies and toddlers meals during services, other than their bottle or a sipping cup.
- Older babies, toddlers, and preschoolers will be offered a light snack during services and functions. A listing of snacks will be available at your child's room (Cheerios, Graham Crackers, Goldfish, Vanilla Wafers).
- A quiet room is available in the Nursery for Nursing Mothers.
Wellness
No sick children will be admitted in the Nursery or Preschool Sunday School.
We know you are as vitally converned about the health and welfare of each child as we are. Sometimes it is very difficult to stay at home when your child just has a "slightly runny nose." However, there may be some children in the nursery who never catch just a little cold but always end up with an ear infection or bronchitis requiring medical attention. In addition to the wellbeing of the children, the possible spread of germs to the adult caregivers poeses an equal threat.
Please do not put us in the position of having to turn away a sick child.
We are sure God will bless you for your unselfish love when you choose to stay at home because your child does not seem 100% well.
A child will not be accepted into their classroom if any of the following are present:
- Recent temperature over 100° F
- Illness-related diarrhea within the past 24 hours
- Yellow or green runny nose
- Body rash of unknown origin
- Persistent productive cough
- Evidence of conjunctivities (Pink Eye)
- Impetigo
- Active Chicken Pox
- Measles
- Mumps
If your child is being treated with antibiotics, he/she shoudl be on the drug for at least 24 hours before coming to church.
If your child has a clear runny nose due to allergies, please indicate on the informational card and notify teacher.
Classes Offered
Follow this link to see a complete list of Preschool Sunday School Classes.
Children in the nursery department are promoted between classrooms according to development, roughly following age guidelines. Teachers will discuss with parents the appropriate time to move up. Generally, the main nursery will be for Bed Babies, mobile & active children will be moved up to the Crawling/Cruise class, and Walkers with listening skills (18 months or so) will be in the Toddler class. Children who are two (according to school system guidelines) by September 30 will be placed in the Two Year Old Class and from there will be promoted with each school year.
To see where you can best help serve our children...
We strongly encourage all parents of our Preschool and Nursery children to volunteer on a regular basis (generally every two months) within the department. There are many opportunities for you to serve with or without interaction with children. Please contact the Preschool Sunday School Director to see where best you can help serve our children.
The purpose and intent of the above policies is to promote unity and understanding between the parents and Nursery Staff at Ironbridge. Copies of the complete Preschool Policy can be obtained from the Preschool Welcome Desk at the entrance to the North Wing.
Any suggestions or comments that may be of help to serve the leadership, parents, or children more effectively are always welcome. Please contact the church office.
Ironbridge Community Christian School
The purpose of Ironbridge Community Christian School is to extend the ministry of, and to assist in accomplishing the mission and purpose of Ironbridge Baptist Church by providing care, education, moral and spiritual development for each child enrolled in the school as well as being a ministry to their families.
ICCS offers classes for several age groups:
Toddlers (two year olds) meet either on Tuesdays and Thursdays or on Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11:30.
Preschoolers include three year olds and four year old students. They meet Tuesdays through Thursdays from 9:30 to 1:30.
Junior Kindergarteners are children who are elibigle for Kindergarten but benefit from another year of preschool before entering school. These students meet Monday through Friday from 9:30 to 1:30.
ICCS follows "Core Knowledge Preschool Sequence" for the academic curriculum, which is a superb guideline of skills preschool children should acquire during these emergent years. Lessons are geared around either a theme (Toddlers and Threes) or Letter of the Week (Fours and JK's). Children are encouraged to learn and memorize the Bible verse of the week, which follows a story from the Bible. Children are taught God's promises and truth concerning His love for each of them.
