WatchCare is IBC's orientation class intended for adult prospective members and those who have recently made decisions desiring membership at Ironbridge. The purpose of WatchCare is to help those interested in membership to understand the values of the church and the benefits and responsibilities of a member at Ironbridge. The class will also help you begin to establish relationships with other members and staff of the church.
A WatchCare session is comprised of five weekly classes during the 9:30 a.m. Sunday School hour. The start of a new WatchCare session is usually announced in the Church bulletin or at the end of each worship service. A brief description of each week is below:
Week 1: Introduction to the Church
The first week is an introduction to the WatchCare class and to Ironbridge Church. An overview of the church's history, what to expect, and current church projects are discussed.
Week 2: Core Values, Vision, and Mission
The second week focuses on IBC's Vision, Mission, and Core Values. At the end of the class you will be given a Covenant of Commitment to look over and, if deciding to join Ironbridge, to sign.
Week 3: The Baptist Faith Message
The third week focuses on what Baptists believe using the "Baptist Faith and Message" doctrinal statement.
Week 4: The Treasure Principle
The fourth week discusses principles of stewardship.
Week 5: Church Tour
Week five covers the future of IBC and information helping you to get established in a Sunday School class, as well as a tour of the church facilities.
Upon completion of the WatchCare session, you can join Ironbridge Church or not. There is no obligation to join. This is simply an informative class. Should you choose to join Ironbridge, we will joyfully receive you as a member of Ironbridge.
