The recent shutdown has affected everyone in someway or somehow. Here are the updates from our staff regarding different ministries and how they are continuing during this Social Distancing time…
Ironbridge Community Christian School Closure
ICCS preschool has shut down due to the Covid-19 virus. Our families, students and staff are all so sad at the abrupt end of our School year, but we will be back and ready to go in September! We still have availability for next school year if you know anyone looking for a preschool. Please email email@example.com for information. We would appreciate prayers for our students who are having a hard time understanding all this and for our teachers who lost their jobs 2 months early.
What a time we are living! These past few weeks have been a challenge for all of us in many different ways. Some of us have kids at home and are working to “homeschool” them, some are living with the challenge of not working during this time or working from home, while others in essential positions are working even more. Whatever our circumstances, we can be sure our God knows what they are. Psalm 55:22 tells us to “Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.” I personally cling to this promise as each day brings new challenges. I hope you, too, can find hope in “casting” your cares on God and helping those children in your life to know that even in these seeming uncertain circumstances, God is always certain.
Thank you for your patience as we all figured out the digital creating and posting of lessons for the kiddos. The Sunday Lessons are posted weekly on the ironbridge.org website and you will see the link for BridgeKidz…Kids Lessons. The lessons are also posted on the Bridgekidz Children’s Ministry Facebook page @bridgekidzchildrensministry. We also share them to the Bridgemomz Facebook Group and the BridgeKidz Parents Facebook Group.
We are working in BridgeKidz to create a fun Easter Experience online for the kids. Be looking soon for information. We are also creating an Easter Bag that we will deliver to our families before Easter Sunday.
As we look ahead, VBS is coming up in July. We are prayerfully looking at what this year’s VBS experience will potentially be for the summer. Please join us in praying for this upcoming event.
Until we are able to meet in-person again, “The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you. My love to all of you in Christ Jesus. Amen.” (1Corinthians 16:23)
Bridge Groups & Worship
BRIDGE GROUPS STAY CONNECTED
Things can certainly change fast, can’t they! We thought we were updating you last month on how we
would proceed…that didn’t even last a week. We are certainly in crazy days. With almost no activity at
church I am beginning to focus more on our Bridge Group Ministry while keeping up with worship
online. I had a Zoom Meeting with our Bridge Group Leaders and will be reaching out to those who
were not able to attend. We discussed what our groups are doing to stay connected, whether that is
through group e-mails, texts, Zoom, Skype, or even an actual phone call. I received an encouraging call
from one of our deacons the other day. He was checking to see if we had any needs, and then he had a
prayer with me. That was awesome! If God puts someone on your heart, it is not by coincidence…reach
out and show Christ’s love. My Monday Morning Men Bridge Group just started a new Bible Study this
week called DEFINED. It’s a really great way to stay connected. Make sure to keep in contact with your
Bridge Group during this time. We would like to know how you are doing and if you have any needs. If
you have never been part of a group and would like to join one at this time, please let me know and I
will help you get connected. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
With all of the recent changes, we are thinking differently about ways to do worship in the church. I
want to thank Patrick Rogers and members of our Tech Team who are figuring out, in a short amount of
time, how to proceed with online church. I heard someone say the other day that they can watch world
renowned pastors and musicians each week during this time. While this is true, the only place you can
connect with all the members of Ironbridge Church is on our live stream, Sunday mornings at 10:45 a.m.
and Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. It’s so great to see all the comments going on during our live streams.
Please take time to share our service on Facebook. Invite your friends and family to join us online and
continue reaching out to others. Please pray for the Worship Ministry and all aspects of Ironbridge
Church as we navigate through very different days.
So, we find ourselves walking with the Lord during some very challenging times of Covid 19.
The challenging times are continuing (at least through April). We are adjusting as a church by
finding ways to communicate online and by phone. We are even resorting to the U. S. Mail
(thanks to all of you who are mailing your gifts and offerings). I want to encourage you to
continue to stay close to the Lord in your devotional times, and daily walk in His presence. I am
enjoying doing the Daily Walk Devotionals each weekday morning on the Ironbridge Facebook
THE JOY OF EASTER
Though our Easter schedule has changed drastically the truth of the
resurrection and new life in Jesus has not changed. We have altered our meetings previously
scheduled as most of you know by now. Men’s Good Friday at the cross, Passover Seder, and
all other gatherings are cancelled. But we will be having a great online service for Palm Sunday
at 10:45 a.m., Holy Week Prayer Service with Communion Wednesday at 7:00 p.m., then
Easter Sunday Celebration at 10:45 a.m. We want to encourage you to invite your friends to
join us online for this great time. On Palm Sunday I want to encourage you to put a green
branch on some kind at your front door or window as a testimony to Jesus’ triumphal entry. I
look forward to experiencing the joy of Easter in the Lord’s presence.
RIGHT NOW MEDIA
I hope you have received an email invite to join Right Now Media. This is
a great resource of Bible studies and other spiritual growth for all ages. If you did not receive
an invite, please let the church office know and we will get that to you. This is a wonderful
time to grow spiritually though in a different context than usual and Right Now Media a fine
tool for that.
SHARING THE LOVE OF JESUS
We may be hindered from meeting together, but we have
wonderful opportunities to share the love of Jesus through caring ministry. Please remember
to give through the Chesterfield Food Bank, and volunteer if possible. Also please check on
your neighbors and each other to see if there is some way to help. You can drop items off for
people, take them a meal, or order a meal to be brought to a neighbor in need. Let’s pray that
we will shine out the love and care of Jesus each day.
As I close, I want to thank you for your faithful giving to the Lord through Ironbridge. It is
especially critical currently. You can mail your gift to the church, check to see if the office is
open and bring it by, or go online and give through our website link or download the Church
Center app and give. Blessings to you and may His blessings flow through us as live out our
lives in Jesus each day.
