August BridgeBlast

From Pastor Gary:

Thanks be to God. A good description of the Christian life is that it is a life of gratitude.  We are thankful for what God has done and what He is doing in our lives.  Paul describes this so well in 2 Corinthians 2: 14, “But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him.” Whatever else we are doing, we are following the Lord together.  As a church we have been in a process of following the Lord’s leadership into the future as a local expression of the body of Christ.  It has been so good to see the Lord’s leadership and presence along this way.  The great news is that He will lead us into the future.  We have been praying for our search team as they have led us in our search for the Lead Pastor the Lord has chosen for us.  It is exciting to see the indications of His leadership along this way of prayer and seeking His direction.  This is not just a habitual thing rather it states our belief that God is leading us in His work to bring many to faith and growth in Jesus Christ.  As we have taken each step along this path, He has led us, and He will do the same moving forward. So, let’s keep praying, walking in His Spirit, and expecting Him to use us each day. Thanks ahead of time for your faithfulness in all these ways.

Lifesongs. I continued to be amazed at how the Psalms, written so long ago, speak clearly to our lives today.  We will be continuing our Sunday morning worship with a focus on the Psalms through the month of August. We have moved beyond the Psalms in our Daily Walk Bible readings, but God is still speaking strongly to us in worship each Sunday through them. They give us much insight on how to live out our faith in this world. Please plan to be a part of these worship times in person, if possible, or join in online. Let’s keep walking in faith and bearing witness to Jesus together in a needy world.

Blessings,

Pastor Gary

From Interim Children’s Director Marjorie:

Hello Ironbridge!

Here’s what has been happening in Children’s Ministry…
We had a great week of Vacation Bible School in June, even though
we were disappointed to miss one night due to a power failure. The
kids enjoyed learning about how much God loves them through Bible
stories, crafts, games, and music. Thank you to all the youth and
adults who served to make this a wonderful experience for all!
We said goodbye to Tammy Baylor, and we are grateful for all the
hard work she has put into the BridgeKidz ministry during her time as
Ironbridge Baptist Church Children’s Director.

Here’s what will be happening in Children’s Ministry…

During the month of August, our Sunday Morning BridgeKidz ministry
will be learning about the concepts listed below.
Preschool: “God made me wonderful.”
Grades K – 2: God’s love; character through the book of Genesis
Grades 3 – 5: Study of the book of Revelation

Don’t forget to use the Parent Cue resources to review the lessons
taught during our Sunday morning BridgeKidz time. Participating in the
suggested “everyday moments” will help your child gain a deeper
understanding of these important concepts.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: As scheduled, on Sunday, July 24, we
began new classroom assignments for kindergarten through 5th grade.
Children in K – 2 are meeting in room 207 and those in grades 3 – 5
are meeting in room 236. All children should be dropped off and
picked up at classrooms. Signs listing the room number for each age
group have been updated.

Please contact me at marjorie@ironbridge.org to ask any questions or
to offer any suggestions.

Marjorie Loya, IBC Volunteer Interim Children’s Director

From Pastor Zach:

July was a month of joy for the student ministry! A large group of students and adults saw God move in our lives as we spent a week at Liberty University for summer camp. Students professed faith in Jesus! Commitments were made to live missionally. Friendships were enriched.
All of this was made possible because of the prayers and support of our whole church family. Your sacrifice of time, talents, and treasures directly enabled students to have a week of abiding in God’s love. Thank you.
If you are reading this as someone who is exploring Ironbridge, we hope the display of the whole church working together to reach all generations motivates you to consider committing to the community. Now is the perfect time to talk with one of our pastors about what it would look like for your family to move from the sideline of spiritual complacency to being surrounded by spiritual care.
Here are our coming events:
Students
  • We gather each Wednesday at 6:30 pm and Sunday at 9:15 am for teaching, worship, community, and fun! Summer is the perfect time for your child to explore our growing group of teenagers seeking God together.
  • Worship Night, August 5th / God is worthy of our joy and energy. We are devoting a whole evening to enjoying his presence as we sing and pray. Join us for this unique evening of singing from 6:30-8 pm.
  • Lake Party, August 19th / Here’s our plan: sun, summer, and swimming! Join us as we relax at lake Chesdin for water inflatables, kayaking, and cannonballs. Dinner will be provided and students entering the 6th grade are invited! The event is from 4-7:30 pm. The address will be sent through the parent email.
  • Promotion Sunday, August 21st / This Sunday, students entering the 6th grade are officially invited into the student ministry! When we gather at 9:15 am, they will receive a warm welcome along with an exciting introduction about what’s in store for them during their middle and high school years.
Young Adults
  • Summer is the perfect time to explore joining a group in the Young Adults Ministry! This summer has two options for gathering times: Mondays or Thursdays at 7 pm at Ironbridge.
  • Worship Night, August 5th / God is worthy of our joy and energy. We are devoting a whole evening to enjoying his presence as we sing and pray. Join us for this unique evening of singing from 6:30-8 pm.
  • In our new study, The Master Plan of Evangelism, we will learn how to incorporate the good news into our everyday conversations and rhythms. We invite you to read along and join us for a gathering.
For a deeper look into our Summer calendar, we invite you to explore our calendar on the Ironbridge website.
With gratitude,
