April 2022 BridgeBlast

What’s coming up in April

From Pastor Gary:

HE HAS RISEN! Those words and the truth behind them have changed the world. Jesus did something for us that we could never do for ourselves when he died for our sins on the cross and rose again the third day. It is an astounding fact that is the bedrock of our faith. Easter comes in middle of April this year and we will have a great time of remembrance and celebration. You will see other notices about these events elsewhere in this Bridgeblast that include the details of many exciting event and services centered on Jesus’ resurrection. Please be much in prayer for these great times: the Men’s Good Friday Sunrise Service, Easter at the Bridge on April 16th, and then on April 17th we will have two great celebration services. I also hope you will invite your friends and family to each of these times as appropriate.
Thankfully we are coming out of our long Covid season. It was over two years ago that we started with the “two-week lockdown to flatten the curve.” For reasons beyond our control those two weeks have been extended to two years in various ways and hopefully they flattened the curve, but it has for sure flattened a lot of other things.  This will be a great Easter invite time. People are now starting to venture out more and more. Flyers will be available at the church and online to invite everyone that we can to the truth that “Christ has risen indeed!” and to the relationship with him that will change everything.
UNITED-Easter Offering for North American Missions:  The first week of March we had our week of prayer for people all around North America to come to know Jesus as Savior. We, of course, prayed for specific people who are devoting their lives to this very purpose. Our goal this year is: $10,000.00. Every penny of that will go to helping people share and know the love of Jesus. Together we can exceed our goal. I want to encourage you to ask the Lord’s leading and give generously for this special ministry.

FOLLOWING THE LORD INTO THE FUTURE: As you have heard from our Pastor Search Team, we are in a renewed time of following the Lord’s leadership to our new Lead Pastor. I want to encourage your continued prayer for Jon Loftis and the rest of our great team that is leading out in this search. The Lord is using this time to prepare us and our new pastor as we position ourselves for Him to use us to “creatively share the
love of Christ with all peoples and all generations.”

Pastor Gary

From Pastor Paul:

Hey Ironbridge Church!

We like to reach out to the community in several ways this time of year. I want to highlight a couple of these opportunities.  First, EASTER AT THE BRIDGE, April 16th, 11-2pm. This event is coming up fast, and we need your help. This is a community outreach. We have had as many as 1500 people come for this
event before. I know that Covid has changed a lot of things, but I do believe families are looking for ways to get out this year more than the last couple years. Here are 2 important ways you can help. We need candy for eggs and volunteers. You can bring candy during the week and get signed up to help somewhere specific. Or just contact me at paulc@ironbridge.org and I will help you out. A basket for candy and sign-up sheets are at the Welcome Desk on Sundays.  You can volunteer in these areas: egg hunts for older or younger kids, carnival games, inflatables, food, set up, clean up, loan a generator. Please get signed up soon and let’s have an amazing outreach to the community!
We are having a CLEAN UP DAY, April 9th, starting at 9am. This is another way that you can help as we prepare to invite the community in. We will be spreading mulch and beautifying several areas of the property. Grab some tools and come help. This is a great way BridgeGroups can get together and serve. Also, if you have time during the week leading up to that Saturday, please contact Marjorie Loya at marjorie@ironbridge.org, and she can arrange for projects during the week.
And then I would also like to highlight ConnectionGroups which meet June-August. These are different from Bridge Groups and are an easy way to reach out to friends and family. Think about those people who have similar interests as you and invite them to get involved. We typically have groups like tennis, cars, gun safety, ice cream, softball, crafts, etc. We may have a new group for disc golf this year! If you have an idea for a group and would like to run it, then contact me, paulc@ironbridge.org or catch me in the office or on Sunday morning and let’s figure it out. These groups are usually a shorter commitment and are easy to participate in. They can also be a good avenue to joining a Bridge Group.
Take Care,

From Pastor Zach:

For March’s Bridge Blast, we shared our team’s goal to reach 100 students for our Reset 22 Youth Conference. Thanks to your prayers and support, we reached 101 students! During the event, the students took ownership of their faith as they listened to four sermons on the sermon on the mount. Additionally, they leveraged their lives through service projects at Thomas Dale High School, nursing homes, swimming pools, and they delivered meals to those in need. We rejoice to experience our aim to “see students own their faith in Christ and leverage their lives for His cause” come to life!

Here’s what’s coming up:

Nerf Battle / We booked the entire first floor for a massive nerf battle! We encourage you to bring your own nerf guns, protective eyewear, and friends. Please do not bring any nerf bullets. We have you covered. We will have a few extra nerf guns available. Dinner will be included. Prepare for battle! / Friday, April 29, 6:30 – 8:30pm
Join us each week for our sermon series, All Out. You will learn how to find lasting meaning in life, through our study of the book of Ecclesiastes.
Graduation Sunday / We will highlight our graduating students on May 22 during the 11 am Sunday service. To register your student, and to be sent the details, please contact jordyn@ironbridge.org
Fuge Summer Camp / Save the date for July 18-22 as we take our students to summer camp at Liberty University! Registration will open in early April on the Ironbridge website.

Young Adults

The Young Adults Ministry is multiplying! We now have two options for gathering times: Mondays or Thursdays at 7 pm.  Once a month, our two small groups will gather as a large group for a variety of events.  Our current book study is the gospel of John. We invite you to read along and join us for a gathering.  For a deeper look into our Spring schedule, we invite you to explore our calendar on the Ironbridge website.

With gratitude,

Zach Ginn

Sunday Mornings

Pre-K & 1st grade
Theme: We go together
Have you ever called someone your BFF? Maybe just the sound of it has you thinking of someone right now. BFF—Best Friend Forever. It’s hard to be a BFF, even with the best intentions. It’s hard for you and me, but not for Jesus.  Jesus is the one friend that not only wants to be our friend forever, but He can actually
keep up His end of the promise. And he went through a lot to make it possible. This month we are sharing the Good News with preschoolers that Jesus wants to be my friend forever.
Memory Verse: “I am with you always.” Matthew 28:20
Key question: Who wants to be your friend forever?
Bottom Line: Jesus wants to be my friend forever.

2nd & 3rd Grade
Theme: Puzzled: Believe there’s a bigger picture
Life can sometimes feel like a giant puzzle. All we can see is the piece we’re experiencing right now and we’re not sure where it fits into the greater picture that is
forming. We can’t always understand why some things happen to us or those we love.  Yet, despite our confusion, we can have hope. God has kept promises throughout history. We can believe that Gd will continue to be with us through what we face now.  Even in the toughest times, we can have hope we know God is always working and can make something good out of something bad.
Memory Verse: “In this world you will have trouble. But be encouraged! I have won the
battle over the world.” John 16:33b
Life Application: Hope: Believing that something good can come out of something bad.

Footsteps of the Disciples: The journey through the New Testament. These. young people are opening the Bible to dig-in to the truths God has for each of us.  Each week, they read, ask questions, and study what God’s Word has to teach them and apply it to their life today.
