Hear from Our Staff
From Pastor Gary:
National Night Out – August 3 You can get more info on this outreach opportunity online or elsewhere in this BridgeBlast. This is a great way to connect with the larger community around Ironbridge. We will be able to host many local services and ministries. One very special part of this is to highlight the work of our First Responders who lead the way for us in caring for and protecting all of us. I hope you can be a part of this in attendance, giving, or serving. Loretta Breedlove is taking the lead in this event again this year.
Church Picnic – August 15 I hope you can stay after our second worship time for this picnic starting at 12:00 noon. We are looking forward to the fellowship of sharing a meal together, fun times, and anticipating a great fall of ministry here at Ironbridge. As you can tell from these events, we have a great month ahead. We have an open door for multi-generational ministry in Jesus’ name going forward. If we keep our focus on the Lord, walking in His healing strength, He will allow us to be greatly used in touching precious lives. Thanks for your prayers, participation, and generous support. It is our privilege to do this together in Jesus.
Bookbag Drive – ends August 18th This is our third year to help local children get their school year off to a great start. School year starts early August 23, so thanks in advance for doing your part as you are able. We will be wrapping this year’s drive up on August 18. Back to School Bash. What a great way to get prepared for the new school year. This combined event of our Children’s and Student Ministries will happen on August 18. Tammy Baylor and Zach Ginn are leading out in this multi-generational event.
From Pastor Paul:
SUMMER CONNECTION GROUPS We have one more month of SUMMER CONNECTION GROUPS. Check us out online through the church website at www.ironbridge.org and jump in a group for the month of August. This is a great way to make a connection at Ironbridge and meet people with similar interests.
BRIDGE GROUPS We will be having a BRIDGE GROUPS EMPHASIS SUNDAY September 12th with a kick-off for the fall the following Sunday, September 19th . It may feel a little early for me to bring this to your attention…it is actually a great time to start thinking about how to plan your schedule for the fall. Being part of a Bridge Group at Ironbridge really opens more possibilities for personal growth in the Lord and also fellowship with other believers.
WORSHIP AND TECH TEAMS
If you have any interest in Worship or Tech Teams, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I would love to get you involved and using your gifts!
From Pastor Zach:
During my senior year of high school, I knew something was missing in my walk with God. I was active in my student ministry. I went to fun events. I was faithful to come to services. I was even involved in a community group with peers my age. However, my heart was hungry to have space where I could be honest about my questions and struggles. My desire for guidance was met by a young adult in my church who willingly gave up time to meet with me each week . The experience was life changing.
At Ironbridge Student Ministry, we aim to see each student own their faith in Christ and leverage their life for his cause. One major aspect of a student taking ownership of their faith is for them to desire discipleship. With this in mind, we added a fourth step to our discipleship pathway this summer- discipleship groups. It has been a joy to see students, from their own initiative, seek discipleship. The guys discipleship group has provided time and relationships for them to get real about their walk with Christ. The girls discipleship group, led by my wife, has been meeting in our home. It has made me smile to hear a rumble of laughter downstairs as these young girls seek Christ as they walk through the New Testament. This final step in the discipleship pathway is where we hope to see each student. Where along this pathway are you?
Invite Nights – explore church > Wednesday Nights – encounter God > Sunday Mornings – engage community > Discipleship group > follow Christ
If you are interested in experiencing a Wednesday night for the student ministry, we encourage you to come to our family-wide, Back to School Bash. Come experience the student band, bashing piñatas, a brief message from Pastor Zach, and dinner as we invite rising sixth graders and new families to experience our ministry.
To find out how to take your next step in the student ministry, I invite you to check-out our August calendar.
Pastor of Students and Young Adults
From Tammy Baylor Children’s Director:
What a great summer we’ve had so far in BridgeKidz! We’ve had Hangout Days, VBS (In-Person) AND learned about Confidence: Seeing ourselves the way God sees us! As we wind down summer and prepare for Fall, here’s what is coming up in BridgeKidz:
-Theme: Construction Zone – God is Powerful! The kind that creates life from nothing; parts water to make dry paths; provides food and water when there is none; wisdom, and courage when needed, and shuts the mouths of lions.
Bottom Line: God is Powerful!
Memory Verse: “Great is our Lord and might in power.” Psalm 147:5
-Theme: Dig Deep – When Jesus was a boy, He grew in wisdom. God wants us to discover wisdom, too. When we make the wise choice, we reflect the character of Jesus to people around us.
Life Application: Wisdom: Finding out what you should do and doing it.
Memory Verse: “If any of you needs wisdom, you should ask God for it. He will give it to you. God gives freely to everyone and doesn’t find fault.” James 1:5
Footsteps of the Disciples: snapshots of the lives of the Chosen 12.
The 4th and 5th grade students open their Bibles each week with Ms. Shirley to read, learn and discuss His Word. There is much to learn from Jesus’ 12 disciples. As the students study these men and God’s work through them to establish His Church and spread the Gospel, they learn what it means for them to be a disciple of Christ today.
Promotion Sunday is August 22nd! This is a BIG deal for kids! Each year as we approach the beginning of a new school year, kids are promoted to the next grade level within BridgeKidz, and for our rising 6 th graders, they move into student ministry! This is both an exciting and anxious time for kids and students.
Considering all the many transitions and pivots kids and their families have had to go through over that last 18months, we are hoping to make this transition a little less stressful. BridgeKidz and Student Ministry are partnering to host a Family Back-to-School BASH!!! That’s right! FUN for the WHOLE family– mom, dad, little kids, teen-agers…..! Mark your Calendars for Wednesday August 18th, 6pm-8pm. There will be dinner, Crazy & Fun Piñata Bashing Game, followed by a time for parents to experience some of what the kids and students do EVERY Sunday alongside their kids! We will also be asking for donations for the Bookbag Drive, so bring in those school supplies to help us finish strong in our church-wide campaign! Please RSVP via Church Center.
