February BridgeBlast

From Pastor Gary:

JESUS ABOVE ALL My favorite commentary on the book of Colossians is entitled “Christ Above All.” Harold Songer, who wrote that commentary, was right on target with that title. When we keep our focus on Jesus and relate ourselves to His will, we can live our lives “on target.” In February we will continue to walk through the book of Colossians together on Sunday mornings. Just as those early believers in Colosse had to live out their life in Jesus in an anti-Christian environment, so do we. Amazing that the Lord already prepared for this in His Word. So, let’s walk together keeping our eyes on Jesus so that He can use us and guide us as we have committed to Him to do.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT THE BRIDGE In February we will start again our Wednesday night equipping time to help in the practical skills we need to grow in Jesus and serve Him. You will find more details about this elsewhere in this BridgeBlast or online at ironbridge.org/wednesday-night-at-the-bridge. I hope you will be able to be a part of this time and serve as you are able.
BELIEVE FOR IT A popular Christian singer CeCe Winans has a powerful song of this title now. I think this is a good description of our Pastor Search
process. Truthfully it is not hard to find “a pastor” for a church like Ironbridge. But we have committed, and our Pastor Search Team is leading us to find “the pastor” that the Lord is calling to this local expression of His Body at this time. We are encouraged by how the Lord gives His best to those who leave the choices up to Him. We just want to stay obedient, stay strong in Jesus, and stay active in doing His will. It is worth all the effort and reveals what we believe about the Bible and the Lord’s church to seek the pastor He has for us now. Keep praying, keep believing, keep “staying strong in Jesus.”

From Pastor Paul

Hey Ironbridge Church!
Last November we put together our first Worship Night at Ironbridge. So many great things came out of that time together. There were uplifting seasons of worship and prayer that renewed us and encouraged us. There was amazing community between all who were present.  As promised, we are having another Worship Night! This will be Sunday, February 20th at 6pm.  Please join us for this amazing time together. I really desire for this to be well attended, so bring
a friend and come join in!
Bridge Group leaders came together last September for a time of fellowship around a meal, as well as a time of training. This was a great encouragement for all. I am looking forward to another time together on February 27th right after the 2nd service at noon, in Z Street. This will be a Bridge Group Leaders Luncheon & Meeting. I feel that this format works well for us. I will message leaders directly about this event to get a head count. See you then!

Take Care,

From Pastor Zach

January was a strong start to the new year! Despite snow’s attempt to cancel every weekend, we successfully multiplied into two groups for young adults, began a new sermon series for students, and had a young adult event at Drive Shack.

Here’s what’s coming up:

Young Adults
The Young Adults Ministry is multiplying! We now have two options for gathering times: Monday’s or Thursday’s at 7 pm.  Once a month, our two small groups will gather as a large group for a variety of events. The second week in February we will break from our bridge groups to gather as a whole on February 13th at 6 pm for a Super Bowl Party.  Our new book study is the gospel of John. We invite you to read along and join us for a gathering.
Join us for our new sermon series, Confidence. Through our study of the book of 1 John, you will learn to have confidence in Christ.  Join us for an evening of Grog (the student’s favorite game) at 6:30 pm on 2/11!  Save the date: Reset 22 Youth Conference is March 4-6. This year we are partnering with several other local churches to expand our reach in Chesterfield!  To register for the Reset 22 Youth Conference, or to sponsor a student, click here: https://brgr.churchcenter.com/registrations/events/1160127

For a deeper look into our new year rhythms, we invite you to explore our calendar.

Hello February! We are looking forward to great things in February in BridgeKidz!

TeamKID is back in action beginning Feb. 2 nd . We will begin our 2 nd Session on Wednesday evenings from 6pm-730pm! This session we will be focusing on how people fit into God’s one BIG Plan! Kids 2 years through 5 th grade are invited to come and discover:  What God’s plan is; God’s most important creation; does God love people even though they sin; how should we respond to God’s love; how did God plan for people to live in relationship with each other;
and how do Christians work together?  Each Wednesday kids will participate in bible lesson, memory verse activity, missions’ activity, and games all helping them to engage with the topic of the evening.

Sunday Mornings:

Pre K – 1 st grade:
Theme: It’s a Party!
Did you know there are over 100million love songs? Why so much interest in love? Well, it could be because God is love. And God made every person in His image. We were literally made by love, to love and to be loved! Jesus gave us so many examples of loving everyone while He was on earth, and we get
to share them with our preschoolers this month.  Jesus loves everyone, and we can love everyone like Jesus—that is what we want preschoolers to know.  And there’s no better time in our world for children to hear this powerful truth. So, grab a party hat and a handful of confetti and let’s get the party started!
Memory Verse: “Do Everything in love.” 1Corinthians 16:14
Bottom Line: Who Does Jesus love? Jesus loves everyone.

Middle Elementary:
Theme: On My Block: Care for the people in your neighborhood.
God’s compassion for us led to the greatest act of love the world had ever seen. God sent Jesus to rescue us. We reflect God’s compassion when we care about others and work to make things right.
Life App: Compassion: Caring enough to do something about someone else’s need.

Memory Verse: “The Lord has shown you what is Good. He has told you what He requires of you. You
must act with Justice. You must love to show mercy. And you must be humble as you live in the sight of
your God.” Micah 6:8

Theme: Footsteps of the Disciples
The Preteen group is studying their way through the New Testament in historically chronological order.  Traveling in the footsteps of the disciples learning what was happening during that time, what they were doing when they wrote each letter, and what it means for Christians today.  Mrs. Shirley leads these young hearts and minds in discovering truth that is in God’s Word and how they can begin to apply it to their lives today.
