From Pastor Gary:
A Call to Pray: When Becky and I lived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia we often heard calls to
prayer. It took a while to discern who was calling through loudspeakers located outside
of houses of worship. We learned that both the Muslim mosques and the Ethiopian
Orthodox churches did loud prayer calls. The Orthodox liked to stay ahead of the
Muslims so their calls would go out at 3 or 4 in the morning it seemed. It was hard to
sleep once those calls cranked up as they were loud. But we have a different call to
prayer during this Covid-Unrest-Election year. This is a time, as the Lord’s people, we
are hearing the call to pray for healing both physically and spiritually for all in this great
land and around the world. We just had a prayer walk at Ironbridge on Saturday and
The Return and Prayer March 2020 were held at the National Mall as well. These great
events are catalysts for our continued prayer in the days ahead. Let us pray fervently for
God to move among us in a mighty way.
BLESS EVERY HOME: I want to encourage you to sign up for this exciting way to live out
your faith by praying, caring, sharing, and discipling starting from where you live. You
can sign up online and get a prayer reminder sent to you each weekday. You can follow
this link or QR code to sign up and get started.
1×1 Mentoring: Paul Cochran Jr. did an excellent job leading our mentoring training this
past Sunday evening. I hope you will take the time to learn more about this important
way of growing in the knowledge of Christ. On Sunday mornings I am continuing my
series about mentoring. I want to encourage you to sign up to be mentored or to
mentor someone else. You can do that by going to the following link or scan the QR
You can also check out the mentoring training as it was recorded and is available online

FALL RECONNECT: Like everything else our plans for our Fall Festival has changed
due to the Covid crisis. But I believe we have an excellent plan for a special event this
fall that we are calling the FALL RECONNECT. Save this date: November 7, 2020 at
3:00 p.m. We will have a wonderful time of fellowship and reconnect outside at
Ironbridge. I am already getting hungry for that Brunswick stew, chili, and hot dogs
among other things. You will be hearing more about this and we are looking forward to
personally inviting everyone to attend. Bill Vickers will be taking the lead on setting this
up so you know it will be good.
As always thanks for your faithfulness in praying, giving, and sharing as we serve
together in these exciting times.
BridgeKidz is OPEN! We opened BridgeKidz services during the 1045am service time on September13th. We have had a great response from families and children with attending. We have also had new families attending, so their children can attend an age-appropriate service. We are working out small details that come up each week to make the process easier and safe for everyone! Our amazing BridgeKidz servant volunteers are making BridgeKidz Service possible. However, we still need people to step in and serve!
Some areas of immediate need:
WIN servants (Welcome, Involve, Network) – ALL Ages
Check-in Servants (temp. check & print labels)
We are looking for a minimum of a 3-month commitment to serve, whether it is once a month, twice a month, or every Sunday for the 3 months. We also accept those who are willing to serve longer than 3 months!
From Student Pastor Zach
How has quarantine been for you and your family? For many, this has been a time of fear, frustration, and isolation. Sadly, the students of our community have not been excluded from these very real experiences. Online school, separation from friends, and the occasional irritation with siblings, have caused students to be weary and ready for something new.
Jesus offers us newness of life. God says to us in the book of Romans that we too can walk in newness of life because of what Christ accomplished through his death and resurrection (6:4). So what does this newness of life look like? It looks like freedom from the brokenness of living in bondage to sin. It looks like joy that is rooted in the constant love of God and not our circumstances. It looks like community with people who know God. It looks like a God centered purpose. It looks like freedom.
As a student ministry, we have been exploring God’s word in Philippians to discover how we can practically live out this new life together. We invite you to join us in this journey each Wednesday at 6:30pm and Sunday morning at 9:15am.
God is at work making things new in the hearts of students who are gathering together each week. We want you to experience this newness with us.
From the Church Office
Ironbridge is extremely grateful for the new FIREPIT that the AHG Troop 1024 graced us with as one of their community projects. This troop is under the leadership of Amanda Falconer. The students of Ironbridge will be utilized the Firepit last week and have extended an invitation to the troop to join them in fellowship.
BACKPACK/SCHOOL SUPPLIES DRIVE Thank you, Ironbridge!! For responding so generously to our Backpack School Supplies Drive — Loretta Breedlove reported that our donations reached and helped 225 school kids.
DID YOU KNOW? Ironbridge posts current prayer requests from our church folks on a prayer site: www.prayforironbridge.org? If you have a request you would like to publish, call the church office and speak with Sherry—796-6868 X11

Our Bridge Groups Ministry is alive and well! Leaders are finding creative ways to meet with their groups either by Zoom or combining in-person with Zoom. Several groups have decided to return to meeting in the Building. Even though it takes extra time to prepare rooms we are glad to do so. We have a great staff, both paid and volunteer, who are on top of this. I just want to encourage anyone who is interested in checking out Bridge Groups to do so online. You can view the groups by going to the church website, www.ironbridge.org and clicking on Bridge Groups. You can also get there on your phone by using the Church Center app and clicking at the bottom on Groups and then Bridge Groups. We have 26 options for you to choose from as for age, time or type. You can see descriptions and email leaders from that page or even just join! If I can be of assistance, please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will be glad to help you out.
Classic Service Re-start
Last Thursday we had our first Classic Service since February! Several members were sharing that they really missed our getting together. With the help of Debbie Starnes and her team we pulled off a great Service and Luncheon. This is a wonderful service for anyone to attend and enjoy…especially if you like the classic hymns of the faith. Just to give you an idea this past week we sang the following: Blessed Assurance, Nothing but the Blood, Sweet Hour of Prayer, Leaning on the Everlasting Arms, and Just as I Am. We have a Scripture reading and a good time of prayer. Pastor Gary brings a message, and afterwards we have a great lunch lovingly prepared and served by Debbie Starnes and her crew. Patrick Rogers had the suggestion to live stream the service so our friends at Lucy Corr, who normally attend, could have access to the recording. What a great idea! I really want to thank all who are involved in this effort. We meet monthly, so if you are interested, just get in touch with Debbie Starnes, 804-751-9065, so we can prepare for the right number of people.
