September Bridgeblast Transcript
From Pastor Gary:
Making it about Jesus. That is a simple guide for success in our personal life, our church,
and our world. It gets decidedly more difficult as it moves further out from us. Making
our lives to be about Jesus is difficult, even though it is the essence of the commitment
we made when we gave our lives to Him. This is where our “daily walk” is so important
as that is where we are changed into His likeness as we pray, read His Word, and live out
our commitment. When we join together with our brothers and sisters in Christ as His
church, our goal is still the same, “make it about Jesus.” If we are doing this personally,
it is only natural that we focus on Him in the church. But we often get distracted in this
task because our Adversary doesn’t want this to happen. Our Lord Jesus left us with the
Great Commission–our marching orders as His people. In Matthew 28:18-20, he lays it
out, “make disciples of all nations…” I am so excited that at Ironbridge we are seriously
trying to be obedient to Christ. It is in our purpose, our vision, and our goal. All we
need to do now is “live it out.” In other words, “Just Do It!” With that in mind we have
two great efforts underway that will help us do that, BLESS EVERY HOME, and 1 x 1.
BLESS EVERY HOME. This is an exciting way to live out your faith by praying, caring,
sharing, and discipling all starting from where you live. You can sign up online and get a
prayer reminder sent to you each weekday. You can follow this link or QR code to sign
up and get started. https://blesseveryhome.com/light/?cust=10131
1 x 1 is a new and very important way to grow and help others grow in following Jesus.
This is a Mentoring initiative that is as simple and profound as just spending some time
talking with a fellow believer for mutual growth and encouragement. Paul Cochran, Jr.
will be leading a training session for this on September 20 at 5:00 p.m. He has done a
great job putting this together, and I look forward to everyone going through this
training. I will begin a new series with this same title “1 x 1” beginning on September
Thanks always for your faithfulness in walking in Jesus together. September promises to
be a great month with cooler weather, and preparation for the new church year starting
From Pastor Paul:
SUNDAY FUN NITE!
Sunday night, August 9 th we had a great time of fellowship and fun at SUNDAY FUN NITE! There were
around 60 people hanging out, eating ice-cream, and listening to a wide variety of music and humor.
We had a little contest and gave away Wipes and Disinfecting Spray. I want to give a big thanks to our
musicians for the evening: Hunter Zupo, Ryan Primm, Jake Cardwell, Paul Cochran Jr., Thomas Cochran
and yours truly. Curtis McMillan brought the humor and Charles Palka ran the tech to make us sound
better than ever. Bill Stebbins and his truck “Oscar” safely handled the ice-cream and water for us. I
want to thank my wife, Sarah, for all the behind the scenes help in getting things together. It took a little
work but was well worth the time. Thank God for the beautiful weather and a warm church family!
YOUTH WORSHIP TEAM RESTART
This past month we gave a reboot to the Youth Worship Team. We took a break when Covid 19 shut
everything down in March. Our desire is to prepare to be ready for use when our new Youth Minister
arrives. We are looking forward to the exciting days ahead in the youth ministry here at Ironbridge
We will be having a special emphasis Sunday for Bridge Groups on September 27 th ! All groups will be
finalized by then and ready to accept new members. Look for information to come on new groups that
may be starting up at that time. Always pray for this ministry of Ironbridge to be vibrant and growing. It
is an important way that we stay connected as a church, and it is also a great way to reach out to others
and give them a comfortable place to hear and learn about Jesus.
With the kick-off of the fall season please consider serving with Worship or Tech Team. You may have
gifts that God could use to encourage others as we lead in worship. Please contact me at
firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested.
From Youth Pastor Zach:
Hello! My name is Zach Ginn. I am the new Student Pastor at Ironbridge Church.
When I was a student living in Chester, VA, I was not close to God. However, around my senior year of high school, Jesus changed my life. I realized that I was lost without him and I knew his love was the only way out of my brokenness. Since that moment, living with Christ has been an adventure. I would like to invite you to encounter Christ this fall as we welcome back students into a secure and fun environment. Attached you will find our September calendar and our welcome back plan that outlines our COVID-19 guidelines.
To stay in-the-know about what’s going on in the student ministry, I encourage you to follow our Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/ironbridge.youth/) and join our brand new Facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/ironbridgestudentministry) There you will be able to see where we have been, and where we are going. It is my privilege to serve students and to get to know parents. If you would like to set up an appointment to meet please contact me at email@example.com. I hope to see you in-person for our first Sunday gathering on 9/13!
