A word from our staff
From Pastor Gary:
WHATEVER IT TAKES The title of our current sermon series is also a great way to approach living out our commitment to and life in Jesus. The opportunity before us demands nothing less. Thankfully, we have the privilege of living out our life in Jesus in a most needy nation/world. Of course, here in the USA, the “need” is not usually material, but spiritual. The spiritual need here is accentuated by our affluence, but also is concealed by the same affluence. Because of Jesus, we have received new life, forgiveness, and healing to name a few things that are badly needed in our world. It is our privilege to share Jesus who is available to all who will come to him in faith. We live in a badly divided nation that seemingly looks for ways to cause division. Is there a better opportunity to make an eternal impact than to share Jesus by word and life? “There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Gal. 3: 28)
This month we are taking a step to help us better share Jesus. We are calling it Wednesday Night at the Bridge. The focal point of this venture is Children’s Ministry. I want to encourage you to plan to be a part of this time. No generation is more at risk in our culture than are children. Wouldn’t it be great to be a part of making a difference at such a strategic time? “Team Kid” is the name of children’s ministry strategy on Wednesday evening. It is a great ministry from Lifeway that incorporates scripture memory and teaching in a fun and exciting way. We are needing people who will lead in all areas of this ministry. I like the fact that three of the needed ministries are: listening to children’s memory verses; games and help at cool down/snack time. I believe we will have a great response as we step up to ministry. Please be in prayer for this ministry and be a part of helping in any way that you can. More info is available in this BridgeBlast or online at ironbridge.org.
From Pastor Paul:
Hey Ironbridge Church,
We are wrapping up a busy summer! So many great things have gone on in many areas of this church. Maybe you were involved with VBS, Youth Summer Camp, or a Summer Connection Group. As we move into the fall season, I want you to consider two things: Where can you get plugged in for growth? Where can you get plugged in to serve?
There are many opportunities to build your relationship with Christ through our weekly Bridge Groups, and through the newly formed, Wednesday Night at The Bridge (starting in October). You will be hearing more about each of these in the weeks to come. On September 12th we will be having a Bridge Groups Emphasis where you will be able see what groups are available and sign up. The Fall Season will kick off September 19th , and we currently have 27 options in the Bridge Group Ministry for you to choose from. You can see them all online by going to the church website or by using your Church Center app.
Let me also take this opportunity to thank those who led Summer Connection Groups this year. It has been a bit different with Covid, but some were able to follow through. Sometimes a Connection Group will continue to meet through the fall, so consider that option and stay in touch with your leader.
As far as service, I want to encourage you to consider serving in our Children’s Ministry. Tammy can be more specific with you, but there are multiple options for Sundays and Wednesdays this fall. Please reach out to her at email@example.com There are also other opportunities to help with Wednesday Night at The Bridge, or with the Students, or various teams including Welcome Team. Just let us know; we can help you find a place. As always, if you are interested in serving in our Worship or Tech ministries, or if you want to consider starting a Bridge Group, you can reach out to me at firstname.lastname@example.org, and I will be glad to help you explore the possibilities.
From Children’s Director Tammy:
What a great summer we have had in BridgeKidz! We ended with a Back-to-School Bash for families. Thank you to each family who participated and had a great time bashing piñatas, and participating in our Glimpse into Sunday Morning!
Here’s what is happening in September in Children’s Ministry:
September 5th – You are invited for a prayer walk-thru for our children’s ministry. To begin our Fall Season off, we want to pray over our children, their families, the facility, and all of the teachers and leaders that minister to the children through ICCS and BridgeKidz Ministry. After each service, the doors of the gathering will be opened for you to walk through the spaces and pray. There will be a prayer card to help guide your prayers.
Theme: Toy Box
Most of us remember a special toy or plush friend from our Toy Box that gave us comfort and companionship when we needed it. It’s part of growing up. We were made to want someone with us. That Someone is Who we will be talking about this month. He is the only One who can truly always be with us.
Memory Verse: “We have the Lord our God to help us.” 2 Chronicles 32:8
Key Question: Who is always with you? God is always with me.
K-3 rd Grade:
Theme: Ready for Launch: Boldly do What needs to be done.
God took the initiative by sending Jesus to show us how much He loves us and fix the relationship between us. When we see a need and choose to do something about it, we reflect God’s image in us.
Memory Verse: “Work at everything you do with all your heart. Works as if you were working for the Lord.” Colossians 3:23a.
Life Application: Initiative – Seeing what needs to be done and doing it.
Theme: Footsteps of the Disciples
Did you know that the order of the books of the New Testament in your Bible aren’t necessarily the order they were originally written? The Preteen group is studying their way through the New Testament in historically chronological order. Traveling in the footsteps of the disciples learning what was happening during that time, what they were doing when they wrote each letter, and what it means for Christians today. Mrs. Shirley leads these young hearts and minds in discovering truth that is in God’s Word and how they can begin to apply it to their lives today.
Wednesday Night at the Bridge:
TeamKID will begin in October on Wednesday evenings! What is TeamKID?
This is a fun, high-energy ministry that encourages kids to know Jesus Christ and to grow in a relationship with Him. The KID in Team KID stands for Kids IN Discipleship. TeamKID consists of Bible stories, Scripture memory, mission activities, life application and recreation games all connected to teach life lessons to kids. Each 6-week session will be available for children 2 years old – 5th Grade. Each of you are invited to help minister to the next generations through serving in this ministry. Do you love to tell Bible stories? Are you a whiz at memorizing scripture? Do you have a passion for missions? Perhaps you love to play games and have a snack! Maybe you like to hold babies and love on the littles. The children and I invite you to join us on Wednesday nights where you can be a part of ALL of this each week! Email email@example.com or call/txt (949) 943-0124 to sign-up to help.
From Pastor Zach:
At the close of 2020, I heard a friend wisely sum up the year, “that was the longest decade of my life.” It’s odd how the events of life can make time itself seem to shift. This week marks a full year of Jordyn and I belonging to Ironbridge. I must confess, the year has felt long. But not long because of difficulty. It has felt long because it has been full. Full of relationships being built. Full of students engaging God’s truth. Full of students being equipped to minister to friends. Full of healing. Full of some of our students even trusting Christ for the first time.
At Ironbridge Student Ministry, we aim to see each student own their faith in Christ, and leverage their lives for his cause. We believe that students who are not familiar with our faith, or those who grew up in church, can both seek after God through our clear discipleship pathway:
Invite Nights – explore church > Wednesday Nights – encounter God > Sunday Mornings – engage community > Discipleship group > follow Christ
For an inside look into the descriptions and times of these gatherings, I invite you to explore our September calendar on the website.
Young Adult Ministry
At the close of this week’s young adult gathering, one of the guys walked up to me with a smile. He said he has been searching and hoping for a group of friends who were collectively seeking Christ. He was smiling because he believes this group is the answer to those desires. With our weekly gatherings around God’s word, hang-out nights, and occasional meals together, I can see why he’s smiling.
If you’re in this pivotal stage of life, we invite you to join us on Mondays at 7 pm.
