Holiday BridgeBlast

Hear from our Staff…

From Pastor Gary:

This Thanksgiving and Christmas season begins with two great outreach efforts. The first, Operation Christmas Child shoebox collection is literally right around the corner.  This Sunday, October 31, the shoeboxes will be available. We will be receiving the filled shoeboxes back for the following two weeks ending on November 14. That following week Debra Cardwell will be taking our boxes to the collection site along with the boxes from our Preschool. This is a great way to impact the life of a child for Jesus in a faraway place that we would never be able to go to just by buying some small little items and packing them in a box with a lot of prayer beside.
The second big opportunity is the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Our theme this year is “TOGETHER, WE TRANSFORM LIVES. We launch this time with the Week of Prayer for International Missions, November 28-December 5. Some great prayer guides and info will be made available so we can all be involved preparing the way with prayer. Our church goal for giving to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering this year is $25,000.00. Our overall goal for all Southern Baptists is $185 Million. Imagine what the Lord can do with our gifts, along with the gifts from other churches, to send the message of Jesus around
the world.
As we move into this blessed season, we need to be “strong in the Lord.” I started a new sermon series this past Sunday from the book of Colossians entitled GROWING STRONG. Being strong in Jesus is what we need each day. It is especially true here at Ironbridge as we impact our community for Christ. Our Pastor Search team is leading out in following the Lord’s leadership as we find our new Senior Pastor. The best thing we can do is to walk strongly in Jesus and pray for the Lord’s guidance and confirmation.  Being concerned for the things that Jesus is concerned about puts us in the best position for ministry as a church. It is amazing what the Lord can do through a church that has God-called leadership and a church body that is serving and walking strongly in Him.
That is who we want to be, and what we want to see happen.  Every week we get the chance to grow stronger in Jesus and to share His love with more
and more people all around our world. Let’s grow stronger in Jesus together.
Your Pastor,
Gary

From Pastor Paul:

WORSHIP NIGHT – Sunday, NOV 14, 6:00pm
I am getting very excited about this night of worship. I know this is something that we as the church really need. We will have a mixture of music and seasons of prayer for the church and future days. As we worship in this setting, I believe we can find more freedom. It may also help free us up a little more on Sunday mornings. God deserves all that we can give and express in worship. I know I am guilty at times of holding back and not being more open. Whether that is from my upbringing or just the types of churches I have been in, who knows. All of this is just to say, I really want to encourage us as a church to be more real, open, and authentic with God. We can go deeper and find new freedoms in worship whenever we are together! Please join me in praying for this service and invite others to come.
DRIVE THRU NATIVITY – Saturday, DEC 18, 6:00 – 8:30pm
I am working behind the scenes to put this event together again this year. Last year was such a great success. Maybe you drove through the nativity last year and saw something we should think about changing. I would love to hear your thoughts. You can certainly email me at paulc@ironbridge.org. I will need volunteers in assembling the nativity, as well as people willing to be part of the cast for the evening. Again, just email me with whatever you are interested in.
SERVING
We are always open to those who would like to serve at Ironbridge Church. If you have a desire to check out the Worship Team, Tech Team or other areas of service, please contact me at paulc@ironbridge.org and we can investigate the options together.

From Pastor Zach:

At Ironbridge Student Ministry, we aim to see each student own their faith in Christ, and leverage their lives for his cause. We believe that students who are not familiar with our faith, or those who grew up in church, can both seek after God through our clear discipleship pathway:

> November Invite Night – Come for Thanksgiving food, stay for friends. This year, we are going to leverage this Friendsgiving to gather toys for children in need with Operation Christmas Child. Please bring toys and toiletries as directed by your bridge group leader. / Wednesday / 11/17 / 6:30 – 8pm >
> December Invite Night – It’s the most wonderful time of the year! A break from school, sweaters, Christmas movies, and the annual ISM Christmas party. Be prepared to laugh at the Christmas competitions, dance to the Christmas classics, and eat as much holiday food your heart can desire. / Wednesday / 12/15 / 6:30 – 8pm >
> Wednesday Nights – Take ownership of your faith by joining other students seeking to pursue Christ. The evening will include free food, engaging activities, and teaching on the book of Ruth for our new sermon series, Bitter to Blessed. / 6:30-8pm >
> Sunday Mornings – Learn to leverage your life as we do a panel discussion on the week’s application from Ruth and grow in community through our bridge groups. / 9:15 – 10:30am. >
> Discipleship groups – weekly discipleship meetings led by our leaders outside of calendared events.

Young Adult Ministry

If you’re in this pivotal stage of life, we invite you to join us on Mondays at 7 pm in the student building. For this season we are walking through the book of Nehemiah to learn how to initiate God-centered change in your life.

For an inside look into the descriptions and times of these gatherings, I invite you to explore our student ministry calendar on the website.

From Tammy Baylor

Sunday:
PreK Community Garden
This Month, we are using a community garden to teach preschoolers that “I can thank God for everything.” First, choosing to be thankful is the road to contentment, joy, and peace. And we want preschoolers to have all of that goodness in their lives. Second, I can thank God. Thanking God is how we acknowledge the One giving us all the good in our lives. And third, I can thank God for everything. Yes, even the not so good stuff. When we thank God for everything,
we are showing God that we believe he can use ALL things for His purpose and nothing is too big for him.
Memory Verse: “I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart.” Psalm 111:1
Key Question: Who can you thank for everything?
Bottom Line: I can thank God for everything.

K-3 Upcycle: Roll with what you’ve got.
God View: The connection between contentment and God’s character, as shown through God’s Big Story. Everything we have comes from God. He is faithful to provide what we need. And even more than what we own, God can also provide what we need to face whatever happens in our life. God has proven time and gain that we can trust Him no matter what. We can complain or become jealous of what others have…or we can choose to respond with contentment; know God has a plan for our lives.
Memory Verse: “Then he said to them, ‘Watch out! Be on your guard against wanting to have more and more things.
Life is not made up of how much a person has.’” Luke 12:15
Life Application: Contentment – Learning to be ok with what you have.

Preteen
Mrs. Shirley continues to guide these students through the footsteps of the disciples. The Apostle Paul is a prominent person that is being followed by the students right now. Through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, Paul wrote much of what we call the New Testament. So much that all of us can learn from Paul.

TeamKID: Wednesdays at 6:00pm
This is our weekly discipleship class for children 2 years old up to 5 th grade. Each 6-week session focuses on a topic of the Christian faith, God, Jesus, the Church, Jesus, etc. Each week helps children investigate God’s Word for answers to these and other important questions kids have about God and Faith.  We will be ending our first 6 weeks session on God Wed. Nov. 10 th . We will then take a break for the busy holiday season and return in January.

DECEMBER:
Sunday:
PreK: Alphabet Christmas
Merry Christmas! It’s time to celebrate the birth of our Savior! We are using the alphabet this month as a fun way to introduce the true story about how God gave us Jesus. One day—sooner than we think—our preschoolers are going to grow up and start asking some hard questions. How do I know God really loves me? Does God still love me?  We want the answer to be right there and ready for them—I know God loves me because God gave us Jesus.
Memory Verse: “God has given a Son to us.” Isaiah 9:6
Key Question: How do we know God loves us?
Bottom Line: God gave us Jesus.

K-3: Light Show: Let the Christmas Celebration begin
God View: The connection between Christmas and God’s character, as shown through God’s Big Story.  The best gift God ever gave was Jesus. Because of Jesus, it’s possible for us to have a relationship with God that will last forever. As we remember the Christmas story, we take time to celebrate the greatest gift the world has ever known.
Memory Verse: “God so loved the World that He gave His one and only Son. Anyone who believes in Him will not die
but will have eternal life”. John 3:16
Life App: Christmas – Celebrating Jesus, God’s greatest gift.

Preteen:  Mrs. Shirley continues with guiding these students through the life of Paul. She also incorporates the Christmas Story as part of her time with these students as we all look forward to remembering the Birth of Jesus the Messiah.

December Events:
