Hear from Our Staff
From Pastor Gary:
Who would have thunk it? Looking back on 2020 so far, has been unbelievable. I remember my 2020 Vision sermon that started the year; learn from the past, engage the present, and create the future. I didn’t realize that in a little more than two months on March 16 we would be closing the church buildings for over 2 months. But to “engage the present” we cancelled open worship times and all meetings and went solely online till after Easter. Then we began offering Drive In Worship plus online. We are so thankful for everyone’s courage and understanding that in all of this as we have walked with the Lord in individually and as a church body. We have changed our way of operating plus we have continued to reach beyond our church in local, state, and world missions. One example of this is that since this crisis began over $7000.00 has been given to the Chesterfield Food Bank through the church. We didn’t “think” this as 2020 started, but the Lord knew about it and is faithfully leading us each day.
DRIVE IN/ONLINE WORSHIP (PLUS LAWN CHAIRS) SUNDAY, MAY 31 AT 10:45 A.M.
This Sunday, May 31 is Pentecost Sunday on the Christian calendar. Let’s celebrate the blessed event of Pentecost together this Sunday. If you are able, bring along a lawn chair and sit outside (social distanced of course) as we worship. We can also celebrate our brothers and sisters in other more restrictive states who will be able to worship to some degree at their church sites either inside or outside starting this Sunday.
STARTING JUNE 7, 2020-
9:00-DRIVE IN/LAWN CHAIR OUTSIDE WORSHIP
10:45-WALK IN/ONLINE WORSHIP
This new schedule will allow us to provide three varieties of “safe” worship experiences. If you are “at risk” physically you can come and stay in your car. If you are not yet ready to go inside to worship you can bring a lawn chair and set it up outside. As our temperatures warm up this earlier time will keep it more comfortable to worship outside. Inside at 10:45, if you are healthy and are comfortable, you can walk in and worship, our chairs will be set up for social distancing.
Our theme during this time has been: Social Distance, but Spiritual Closeness. Amen!!!
From Pastor Paul:
Can you believe summer is here? It is amazing that we are heading into the month of June. As we move into this new season, we are making changes in the schedule and in ways of doing Sunday services. It is our heart to figure out how to reach out to as many of you as possible. So, in the next couple weeks we
are offering new ways to connect in services on Sunday mornings. I know that the upcoming schedule has been stated elsewhere so I won’t cover that again. I am working towards having two separate teams for Worship and Tech once we begin with two service options. This is to try to ensure safety
within our ministry. Please pray for us as we continue to work in the current culture of social distancing while pushing towards spiritual closeness.
Our small groups ministry continues to be a vital part of Ironbridge. I am currently checking with Bridge Group and Summer Connection Group leaders and am open to hearing new ideas from you about ways to connect this summer. I feel that it is very important to put in place some creative ways to gather
while continuing to be careful. Everyone has different comfort levels with being around others. We need to be caring and accepting of that. Within our own family we are being very careful since we have aging parents that need help weekly. My son Paul also has an auto-immune disease and we are trying
to be as careful as possible concerning his health. I know that many of you are in similar situations. Feel free to send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org with ideas for this summer and we will do our best to create opportunities for them in the weeks to come. I will put out a Special Edition Bridge Blast for
Bridge Groups and Summer Connection Groups when the options are fully developed. God bless you all and stay safe!

From Our Youth, Madelyn Tatum:
Hi everyone, this is Madelyn Tatum, the Ironbridge Youth Intern this summer! Thank you for the wonderful opportunity to lead the students as they grow and mature in their walks with the Lord. We have some exciting events coming up both online and in person that you will not want to miss out on. To stay
updated on all of our weekly events, head over to the Ironbridge.Youth Instagram page. Right now, my parents (Mike and Tamara Tatum) and I host Instagram Live Bible Studies on Sundays and Games and Prayer through Zoom on Wednesdays. We love connecting with the students in this way each week!
A large theme for the youth this summer is discipleship! We have recently started a one-on-one discipleship program for the Ironbridge students. They have the opportunity to connect with a college student or young adult, studying the Bible together and praying for one another. Also, we recently began
hosting a Ladies’ Bible Study on Zoom for all the middle and high school ladies. This has been an amazing time of spiritual growth together. If you have not yet been involved in these programs, we hope that you will join in!
Unfortunately, the Centrifuge camp scheduled for July has been cancelled for this summer. Although we will not be going to camp this year, we are planning cookouts at the Tatum’s, a lake day, bonfires, kickball tournaments, and many other exciting events for the remainder of the summer. We will keep you
updated as we determine these dates!
Finally, Senior Sunday is coming up on June 7th! We are so excited to celebrate all the accomplishments of our high school seniors. They will have the opportunity to walk in their cap and gown during the 10:45 service. More information to come! Please continue to pray for all of our students as they finish out the school year. I cannot wait to spend even more time with the students over the summer, online now but in person soon!
